Some of our Y7 students have been working with New Writing North. They premiered their podcast recording that they have been working on over the past term. We were thrilled to listen to how professional our work sounded and we all walked out of our class a little taller based on what great work we had achieved.

We welcomed Iman Malouhi to our school to speak to Year 9 about her experiences in Durham as a Syrian Refugee. The event is part of our School of Sanctuary celebrations as we highlight our role as a welcoming school to all our pupils and staff wherever they may come from. Pupils enjoyed listening to Iman’s story and learnt much more about her experiences through a lovely Q and A session.

SSCL- Apprenticeship 23/06/2023, Application deadline 18/06/2023
SSCL provides business critical support services for the largest government departments, Defence and Police. They employ more than 2,800 people the UK who work from a mix of home and office locations in six Centres of Excellence in Blackpool, Glasgow, Gosport, Newcastle, Newport and York. This virtual session will share more about what they do, their level 2 customer service apprenticeship and how your students can apply. The SSCL offices are based at Quorum Business Park. They are keen to reach as many young people as possible in and around the North East of England who may be interested in leaning more about their apprenticeship programme.
North East Chamber of Commerce 4/07/2023, Application deadline 20/06/2023 (teacher bookings)
The North East Chamber of Commerce gives a deeper insight into policy and politics. This session aimed at year 10-13 students who are interested in law, politics or debating societies aims to show that a career in politics doesn’t have to mean being an MP or joining a political party. Talking all things heritage, history and tourism. Newcastle Castle runs this session and will cover areas such as starting a career in heritage, roles available and all about the industry. They will be sharing more about Retail, management, marketing, events and venue hire. Perfect for those interested in history, business, tourism and events.

Speakers for School are holding an evening webinar for all your parents and carers, to showcase our placements, both virtual and face to face. Our placements are open to 14-19 year olds and cover all industries.
